Meet Jenny Larsen, M.A., MCS, GCDF
You want a career or major that you’ll both love and excel in. But there are so many options out there. How do you know which one is the best choice for you?
That’s where I come in. I’m a certified life and career coach and a certified aptitude testing specialist, and I’ve helped hundreds of students and adults discover their natural abilities, define their purpose, and pursue the careers and majors that are the best fit for them – where they can love what they do and be good at it too.
Let me share a little about my background. I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, and am a graduate of The Hockaday School. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma in interpersonal and organizational communication, and my Master of Arts degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in Biblical studies with focused studies in counseling. I’m also a Certified Life Coach through The Life Coach School based in Dallas, Texas.
I am professionally certified to administer and interpret B-level instruments including the Highlands Ability Battery, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, the Strong Interest Inventory, and the Murphy-Meisgeier Type Indicator for Children. I have been awarded the MBTI Master Practitioner and Master Career Specialist designations and the Global Career Development Facilitator credential, and am a member of the National Career Development Association. In addition, I’ve had the privilege of serving as Director of Client Relations for the Highlands Company, publisher of the aptitude assessment, the Highlands Ability Battery.
I was first exposed to the concept of aptitudes when as a freshman in college my parents suggested I go through aptitude testing. I was so impacted by the knowledge I gained of myself, my areas of strength as well as my areas of challenge, that I became fascinated by human design and began an avid study of psychological type, temperaments, and aptitudes which continues to this day.
My husband, David, and I met when I was in graduate school, married in 1988, and are the proud parents of five wonderful and uniquely designed individuals, a 31-year-old son who has graduated from college and law school and is now working in his chosen field, and 28-year-old quadruplets (three daughters and a son) who graduated from college in May 2018. Two of the quadruplets have finished grad school, and all are working in their chosen fields – two are now married to wonderful men. Our kids have provided an awesome lab of how people are hardwired from birth! We feel blessed to live a full, active life in Tulsa with our family and little 8-lb Coton dog named Missy. Missy is a sweet therapy service dog and works alongside me every day. She puts a smile on everybody’s face she meets. 🙂
I began 2:10 Consulting in 2011, having seen the great need for aptitude testing combined with mentoring in career development skills and career counseling methodologies to create a unique “whole person” approach, a combination that is rare in the marketplace today.
My philosophy of practice is summed up in Ephesians 2:10 – every individual is God’s workmanship. He crafts and designs each person with a unique combination of gifts, natural abilities, and personality characteristics to accomplish wonderful things, in every season of his or her life.
I am passionate about setting people up for success through discovery of their specialized design, assisting them in finding that “sweet spot” where their aptitudes, personality, values, interests, work motivators, and skills intersect, so they are equipped to make informed decisions and choose the career paths and college majors that are the best fit for them.
I look forward to visiting with you soon to see how I can partner with you to set you up for success and equip you to move forward with confidence.
